Quote for the End of this Election Day

“Everything a lie. Everything you hear, everything you see. So much to spew out. They just keep coming, one after another. You're in a box. A moving box. They want you dead, or in their lie.”

-- First Sgt. Edward Welsh (Sean Penn) in Terrence Malick's “The Thin Red Line.”

Every time this happens, I wonder why the Dems don't at least go down fighting. Why not be bold? They could have run on Obamacare, social progressiveness, and sound environmental and economic policy. Instead they always half-ass it, apologize for Obama, etc. They act like weak Republicans who will generally lose to strong Republicans.

I guess there are only two possible reasons for this. Either they are sheepish cowards or they don't believe in any progressive government. Money talks, so I'm guessing it's the latter.

Sure, maybe they would have lost anyway, but they could have at least maintained some self-respect. And gotten some from more of the public in the process.

Agreed on all counts. It's time to say “Fuck you” now and again. Starting with now.

Well-said, Reed. It's called “leadership” for a reason.
