Over time it turned out How Do You Sleep was definitely about Paul. Let Me Roll It, not so much about John, although there are several other McCartney songs that were (none with the same venom).

Can't figure out how to make the link work, but there's an interesting (for Beatles fans) wikipedia article on How Do You Sleep.
