Conversation of the Day

I've had some good conversations today, long ones, too, but this short, awful conversation stands out. I was leaving Metropolitan Market on Mercer with some red peppers for Patricia, who's recovering nicely from arthroscopic surgery, thank you, when a clean-cut, 20-ish dude, a young man really, waved his hands at me to get my attention. I looked down at his table, on which there was a poster of Pres. Obama with a Hitler moustache and the words “Dump Obama.” He smiled at me. I shook my head at him and kept going. He called after me.

He: Are you ready to end the madness?
Me: Yours?

And kept going.

That's the kind of riposte I usually think of three hours later. Congratulations!

I agree with Bob's comment. I usually think of what I wish I'd said to someone like that the moment I get home.

I walked into the break room at Safeco Field yesterday afternoon and noticed the room was empty and the TV wasn't showing a sporting event. So I flipped through a few channels, pausing briefly on a FOX News segment titled “Can You Afford Four More?” The “O” in “Four” was the Obama logo.

I can only stand FOX News in the brief segments shown on the Daily Show and Colbert Report.

The recent segment from the Daily Show titled “World Of Class Warfare” might just end up on my Facebook page. It was brilliant in so many ways. I haven't decided whether or not I want to deal with any dittoheads that may try to defend FOX News on my Facebook page. Sure, 90% of my friends will “like” it, but it's the 10% that keep me from wanting to deal with the frustration of a political disagreement — and I don't believe I've ever convinced anyone to drop FOX News and pick up something with actual facts in it.

Come to think of it, if I'd seen this misguided fool out and about, I might have verbally gone off on him. I'm just that upset at every single national media source because none of them are doing their jobs and haven't been for decades.

“Can you afford four more?” = Four more seconds of watching FOX News. Four more seconds dealing with turds like Obama/Hitler moustache man. I can't.

I've gotten into the FB arguments before, usually with “friends” of “friends,” and it's not worth it. But it's worth posting the segment, Mike. I've seen the segment and it's so spot-on it doesn't even make me laugh; it just makes me angry.

We need to put the Ron Paul people in a big room with the LaRouche people and let 'em figure it all out.
